Successful PR Campaign: Product PR

Elizabeth Hollingsworth is a dynamic Melbourne-based entrepreneur who’s launched six businesses since the year 2000, including two thriving online businesses - Brighton House Décor and My Event Décor.

Elizabeth came to me in 2023 seeking strategic PR for her new product, Palatable Tea Towels.

Palatable Tea Towels are a range of wine region maps printed on high-quality tea towels, and they make a great souvenir or gift for people who love wine and/or travel.

 

There’s an inspiring story behind Palatable Tea Towels: they’re Elizabeth’s passion project, cleverly designed to support regional tourism and encourage more people to visit Australia’s wine regions.  

Elizabeth wanted to grow and scale the business, and she had a great website and social media strategy in place. But Palatable Tea Towels hadn’t yet attracted mainstream media coverage.

I was confident that with such a unique, beautiful product - and an altruistic motive driving it - it was just a matter of telling the story of Palatable Tea Towels in the right way to the right media targets, and persisting, to get the media attention they deserved.

PR Strategy

Over a six-month PR campaign, I pitched Palatable Tea Towels for editorial features, gift guides and giveaways across Australian newspapers, magazines and digital media.

I also targeted business media, women’s media and community media, pitching profile pieces about Elizabeth’s impressive business journey.

PR Results

We achieved some fantastic PR wins from the six-month campaign, which Elizabeth was able to link directly with increased sales and website hits.

Some of the articles weren’t published until a year after the campaign started - which just goes to show that persistence pays off!
